Direct printing on wood is a type of reprography where color comes from the wood and not from ink. In the case of printing without a primary layer, the natural color of the wood affects the colors of your print. This means that the colors of your reproduction will be more yellow. The white parts of the image to be reproduced are not printed and the wood will then appear in its natural color.

We reproduce paintings by first covering the wood with a thin layer of white primer paint. This way, the colors printed on the wood are not as affected by the natural color of the wood. However, the wood grain remains visible. The white parts of the image being reproduced become white, and no color is added. The wood grain remains visible.
