Biography of Susanne Loose

Artist drawing inspiration from nature

Susanne Loose is a tattoo artist and freelance architect. She was born in 1988 in Karl-Marx-Stadt (now Chemnitz) in Saxony. From 2007-2014 she studied architecture at the Dresden University of Technology and then worked in various offices in Dresden, Zurich, Berlin and Hamburg, where she lives today.

Susanne has always been passionate about mountain and climbing. These places can be found in her mountain motifs, which she brings to paper with strong watercolor paints and graphic black lines in ink. Inspiration finds it in rugged rocky landscapes or walks in the woods, the lighting mood at sunrise and sunset, weather phenomena in the mountains, animals (especially cats of all kinds), the silence and loneliness in the high mountains (the fewer trees, the better), the forests: here the soul relaxes.

In the mountain illustrations, she sketches the rocks thinly, paints the surfaces in a watercolor-like way, and then first sets the black lines (contour) with the ink pen or fineliners / markers. As a template serve photos, pictures from the memory or sometimes no template. She prefers a free representation by feeling. "Small mistakes in the picture disturb me less. It does not have to be perfect, but lively ", - says the artist.

She works mostly with watercolors (the color selection is mostly dependent on which color she wants) and draws with ink lines. For the tattoo designs, she often uses the iPad.
